Corrosion Resistance of Incoloy 825 Alloy

Incoloy 825 is a general-purpose engineering alloy with excellent resistance to acids and alkali metal corrosion in both oxidizing and reducing environments.

Its high nickel content provides effective resistance to stress corrosion cracking. It performs well in various media such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, organic acids, as well as alkali solutions including sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid.

The alloy delivers outstanding comprehensive performance in nuclear fuel dissolvers with complex corrosive media, where sulfuric acid, nitric acid and sodium hydroxide are processed in the same equipment.

Applications of Incoloy 825 Alloy

Incoloy 825 is widely used in industrial fields with service temperatures not exceeding 550℃.
Typical Applications:
  • Heating tubes, containers, baskets and chains for sulfuric acid pickling plants
  • Seawater-cooled heat exchangers, marine piping systems, sour gas service pipelines
  • Heat exchangers, evaporators, scrubbers and immersion tubes in phosphoric acid production
  • Air heat exchangers in petroleum refining
  • Food engineering and chemical processing industries
  • Flame-retardant alloy for high-pressure oxygen service
